Kenlen Group — Solutions Engineering
Website Redesign Proposal

A website built to the standard of the mines you serve.

A complete redesign of kenlengroup.com — rebuilt to the standard of the world’s leading engineering and industrial-equipment firms, in Kenlen’s own colours, with Kenlen’s own content. This proposal presents the new design, what changes, the value it creates, and the investment required.

01 · Executive summary

Debswana-grade clients deserve a Debswana-grade website.

Kenlen Group is the authorised distributor of Ingersoll Rand, Tru-Trac and Flex-Mat equipment in Botswana, with offices in Gaborone, Johannesburg and Harare and a client list that includes Debswana, Morupule Coal Mine, Minergy, Khoemacau and Botswana Power Corporation. Yet the first impression a procurement officer or plant engineer gets today is a 2021-era WordPress site: a rotating slider, copy that still says “more than 5 years”, eight thin service and equipment pages, footer links that point to dead index.php URLs, and a Harare office listed with a Johannesburg phone number.

We have redesigned and rebuilt the full website — all ten pages — drawing on the design language of the world’s leading engineering suppliers (Atlas Copco, Sandvik, Weir): confident condensed typography, a persistent “Request a quote” action, product portfolios that are easy to scan on a phone at the mine gate, and trust signals — distributor status, 24-hour support, three countries — surfaced on every page.

Nothing about the brand changes. Kenlen’s logo is untouched and the existing palette — charcoal, yellow, blue and white — is applied exactly as-is, only more consistently and more confidently.

What changes is everything around it: structure, messaging, mobile experience, speed and conversion. The result is a website that matches the calibre of the mines Kenlen already works in — and turns a Google search or a WhatsApp forward into a quote request.

03 · What changes & why

Current site vs. proposed redesign.

A side-by-side view of every meaningful design decision, and the reasoning behind it.

AreaCurrent websiteProposed redesign
First impression ✕Slider Revolution carousel; headline “Mining, Engineering, Manufacturing Solutions”; copy that still reads “more than 5 years” from the 2021 build. ✓A full-height hero in Kenlen’s own site photography, leading with the outcome clients buy — “Keeping Africa’s mines and plants running” — the distributor brands named beneath, and a yellow “Request a quote” button in view before anyone scrolls.
Trust signals ✕Fifteen client logos buried at the foot of the home page; distributor status mentioned only in the meta description. ✓A yellow stats band directly under the hero (3 countries · 24-hr support · 40+ years combined leadership · 15 blue-chip clients), distributor status in the top bar of every page, and the client-logo wall promoted with hover-to-colour treatment.
Site structure ✕Twenty-plus pages, many a paragraph long: five service pages, a “Projects” page with no content, duplicated address blocks, and a Service Centres page listing Gaborone’s address under Letlhakane. ✓Ten substantial pages. Services consolidated into one page with six anchored sections; each of the four equipment lines gets a proper product-portfolio page; CSR and News merged. Nothing of substance lost, everything easier to find.
Equipment pages ✕Product lists as sidebar links that all point back to the same page; the IoT page is the only one with a full portfolio. ✓Every line — Air, Conveyor, Water, IoT — presented as a structured portfolio with a “why Kenlen” section, a sub-navigation to hop between lines, and the sales line and quote form one tap away.
Conversion ✕No quote call-to-action in the header; a “Request for Quote” link in the footer that goes to a 404; the contact form is the only enquiry route. ✓“Request a quote” in the sticky header on every page, a closing CTA band on every page, click-to-call on every phone number, a floating WhatsApp button, and a quote form that asks the right questions (country, equipment line, model, urgency).
Contact accuracy ✕Harare office shows the Johannesburg phone number; footer links to index.php/services/; the Services page links to the literal address http://projects. ✓One source of truth for the three offices, reused on Home, Services and Contact. Every link verified. Harare listed with its email only until the correct local number is confirmed.
Mobile ✕Responsive theme, but the slider, mega-menus and plugin scripts make it slow on mine-site mobile data. ✓Designed mobile-first: full-screen menu with tap-to-open sub-menus, thumb-sized buttons, phone and WhatsApp in the header bar, product portfolios that read as clean lists on a phone.
Performance ✕WordPress + Elementor + Slider Revolution + Elements Kit + Site Kit: dozens of scripts and stylesheets before the first word renders. ✓Hand-built, dependency-free pages: one stylesheet, no frameworks, no sliders, no trackers — sub-second loads on mobile data, and nothing to patch or update.
Search visibility ✕Home page title: “Compressed Air Solutions and Engineering”; generic descriptions; the Vision page’s description is literally “PURPOSE STATEMENT”. ✓Every page carries a purpose-written title and description naming the brands, products and countries people actually search for (“Ingersoll Rand compressors Botswana”, “Tru-Trac distributor Zimbabwe”).
Brand ✕Charcoal, yellow and blue used inconsistently — yellow on one button, blue on the next, red on a third. ✓Logo untouched. Charcoal header, yellow for every primary action, blue for secondary links and eyebrows — the same three colours, applied with discipline.
04 · The business case

The value we expect this to add — and why.

For an industrial-equipment distributor the website is a sales tool, not a brochure. Here is where the return comes from.

01

Passes the procurement check

Before a mine adds a supplier to a tender list or an approved-vendor database, someone opens the website. The redesign makes that visit confirm, not question, Kenlen’s standing.

Why we believe thisMining procurement is compliance-driven: vendor onboarding, due diligence and tender evaluations all include a web check. A site that matches the calibre of Debswana or Khoemacau removes an avoidable objection at the exact moment a contract is decided.
02

Turns the mine-gate search into a quote

A plant engineer with a tripped compressor at 2 a.m. searches on a phone. Click-to-call, WhatsApp and a quote form in the header mean Kenlen is the supplier who answers first.

Why we believe thisBreakdown purchases are urgency-driven and go to whoever is easiest to reach. The current site hides the phone number in the footer and offers no WhatsApp at all; the redesign puts both in the header of every page and already advertises 24-hour support.
03

Owns the brand-name searches

People search for “Ingersoll Rand Botswana” and “Tru-Trac Zimbabwe” far more than for “Kenlen Group”. Dedicated, well-titled equipment pages are how those searches land on Kenlen rather than on the OEM’s global site.

Why we believe thisSearch engines rank one strong page per topic above several thin ones. Today the air, water and conveyor pages are near-empty and share the same sidebar links; the redesign gives each line a full portfolio page with the brand, product and country in its title.
04

Sells the service contract, not just the machine

Service contracts, on-site plant operation and condition monitoring are Kenlen’s recurring-revenue lines. The redesign gives them a dedicated page and a dark “Supply is the start. Uptime is the job.” section on the home page.

Why we believe thisRecurring service revenue is worth more than one-off equipment sales, and it is the part of the offer competitors cannot copy from a catalogue. On the current site it is split across five thin pages; consolidated and promoted, it becomes a reason to choose Kenlen over a parts-only reseller.
05

Faster site, wider reach, lower upkeep

Dependency-free pages load in under a second on mine-site mobile data — and there are no plugins to update, no slider licence to renew, no WordPress to patch.

Why we believe thisThe current build runs on Slider Revolution 6.4 (released 2021) and a stack of Elementor add-ons; each is a maintenance and security liability. Static, hand-built pages remove that class of risk entirely and cut hosting to near zero.
06

Credible in three countries at once

Gaborone, Johannesburg and Harare appear together on every page, with the right numbers and emails, so a South African or Zimbabwean buyer sees a regional group, not a Botswana company with a mailbox elsewhere.

Why we believe thisCross-border mining clients buy regional coverage. The current site undermines that story with a Harare office listing a Johannesburg number and a Letlhakane centre listing the Gaborone address. One verified office block, reused everywhere, fixes it permanently.
